Road Mishap Claims 7 On Lagos-Benin Expressway
Seven persons died while many others sustained injuries in a ghastly motor accident on Lagos-Benin expressway on Tuesday.
The News Agency of Nigeria learnt that the accident occurred when two buses collided with a Sport Utility Vehicle, SUV.
Awitness said the two 14-passenger buses belonging to Iyare Motors were travelling from the Lagos end when they both rammed into the SUV.
It was gathered that seven persons from the two buses and the SUV died instantly while others who sustained injuries were rushed to a nearby hospital by men of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE).
Confirming the incident by telephone, Mr. Ariyo Ajibade, the Ijebu Zonal Commanding Officer of TRACE, told NAN that the dead had been deposited at the Ijebu-Ode General Hospital mortuary.
Ajibade explained that those who sustained injuries were rushed to Ultimate Hospital in Ijebu-Ode for treatment.
He explained that the two drivers of the buses and one passenger died instantly while four persons in the jeep lost their lives.
Ajibade urged motorists to always exercise caution on the highway, stressing that driving is not a track race.
