Leaders in authority have been charged to put high premium on effective human capital development and a conducive environment to ensure growth, which is the bedrock of socio-economic and political greatness of any nation.
This charge was made by by a former health minister, Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi, at the presentation of a book titled: Effective Performance Appraisal, written by, Rotn. Chief Abayomi Idowu Adewunmi, held at the Rotary International District 9110 Secretariat, Ikeja GRA, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.
Speaking on the essence ofthe book, Adelusi-Adeluyi, the CEO of Juli Pharmacy Ltd, Ikeja, Lagos, warned the electorate to make a critical appraisal of the past and present office holders and aspirants before casting their votes.
Since education is a vital mechanism to human growth and positive development, it behoves on us all to be mindful of our future expectations, in relation to our past unfortunate experience.
Citing globalexamples, he advised the United Nations to harp on the need for nations to vote large sums of money for eduation, especially in their annual budget as well as with regular checks and balances to ensure effective implementation.
He stressed the need for employers to constantly appraise the efforts of their staff in relation to the environment they operate in, with a view to encouraging optimal performance.
Adelusi-Adeluyi posited that government at all times must guide against frustration, which might lead to confusion, chaos or destruction. To avoid such situations, he suggested that those in authority, especially the political class, must always strive to improve the fortunes of the populace through constant, natural and humane interaction.
