The Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State has expelled more than 42 students for using fake or forged credentials to gain admission in the last two years.

The Rector, Alhaji Abdullahi Sule, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bida on Wednesday that the committee charged with the responsibility of verifying students’ credentials discovered the irregularities.

He said the verification was aimed at ensuring that all credentials presented by students were genuine.

“All we wanted was to ensure that the credentials were genuine, so that we could adhere to standard. We will not compromise standard. The affected students have already been blacklisted.

“We have instructed our security operatives to ensure that the students are never allowed into the premises,’’ he said.

He advised students of the institution to be serious with their studies and shun examination malpractice as well as cultism and other unethical behaviours.
