Bombs Kill One, Stir Tension In Kaduna

Ahead of Nigeria’s National Assembly election polls, two men suspected to be members of Boko Haram sect were unlucky last night, when two bombs allegedly meant to destabilize tomorrow’s elections in Kaduna, exploded, killing one of them and leaving the other critically injured.

Muhammed , one of the Boko haram suspects who were to allegedly detonate the bomb during the NASS elections tomorrow.

The bombs went off around 8pm at Mahuta village behind the Kaduna National Eye Center. The person killed was identified as Yahaya and his injured mate was identified as Mohamed.

Eye witnesses told P.M.News that they never thought it was a bomb blast when they heard the first explosion . According to them, the second one that occurred few minutes after the first caused ripples in Mahuta and Kurmin Mashi areas.

The explosion another eyewitness said immediately attracted the Anti Bomb squad, who were able to detonate the remaining three bombs at the uncompleted building ,where the two bombs exploded.

When P.M.News visited the Saint Gerald’s Hospital to interview the injured suspect, Mohammed was receiving treatment, gasping for breath, he said , “We were taking the bombs to somewhere where we intend to use it before one of them exploded” when asked where in particularly , he kept quiet.

The Kaduna Police Public Relations Officer , DSP Aminu Lawan that confirmed the incident. He said the police are investigating the matter to ascertain whether or not it was actually a bomb explosion.

However, the bombs have stirred tension in the state with many residents unsure of what might happen tomorrow, the day of the rescheduled polls.
