The bullet riddled campaign bus of the NCP governorship candidate, Ogbeni Lanre Banjo after the attack by gunmen.

The campaign team of the National Conscience Party (NCP) in Ogun State has been attacked by a group of people suspected to be armed robbers at Babcock University junction, along Benin-Sagamu Expressway, Ilishan Remo, Ogun State, South-West, Nigeria.

The bullet riddled campaign bus of the NCP governorship candidate, Ogbeni Lanre Banjo after the attack by gunmen.

The Chief Press Secretary to the governorship candidate, Mr. Temitope Ogunbanke, stated that the campaign team of the NCP, including the party candidate Ogbeni Lanre Banjo, and other members of the party, were coming from Ijebu Waterside, where they had gone to campaign, when they were attacked by the gunmen.

Commenting on the attack, the party governorship candidate said: “this reflects the poor state of insecurity in the country, especially on highways. Federal and state governments should do something very urgent on security to protect lives and properties. I believe it is high time the government provided lightning on all major roads. If there are lights on major roads, it would reduce criminal activities along the roads. ”

Banjo therefore called on the government and all security agencies to provide adequate security for the masses.

He also urged the federal and state governments to invest in lighting up the nation’s highways to discourage this ugly act.

Banjo called for provision of equipment for the police that will enable them communicate with the police stations in the state.

He commended the three police officers attached to his campaign team namely CPLs Olaniran Jimoh, Expo Daniel and Oluwafemi Ogunbona, for being up to their responsibility.

Banjo also urged the Commissioner to recommend these policemen and the ones who defended his campaign workers in Ijebu Ode.

Meanwhile, ahead of the general election, Banjo promised that if voted into office, his administration will focus on 10-care programmes that would benefit the masses and bring about positive change in the state.

The 10-care programmes of the NCP administration would focus on provisions of employment, health, food, housing, free education, water, electricity, transportation, telecommunication and security.
