Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, chairmanship aspirant, Ijede Local Council Development Area, Ikorodu, Lagos, Alhaji Lawal Lateef Alaba, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to ensure the provision of all election materials for the smooth conduct of tomorrow’s National Assembly elections on Saturday.

Alaba who said this during a chat with Political Platform added that timely arrival of election materials would ensure free, fair and credible polls.

The Ijede chairmanship aspirant said the task ahead of the commission was to map out comprehensive transportation system to get election materials to the polling station ahead of time. He explained that the desire of Nigerians to conduct a free and fair election would only be realised if appropriate steps were taken to provide an enabling environment for the smooth electoral processes.

He urged the electorate not to allow their spirit to be dampened by the failure of INEC to conduct the National Assembly elections last Saturday.

He said rather than be frustrated, they should exercise patience by coming out to cast their votes for the ACN in the rescheduled poll and subsequent ones.

Alaba called on all stakeholders in the nation’s politics to work towards ensuring peaceful conduct of the elections in the country.

He said “cases of re-election violence all over the country are very disturbing and the onus lies on the political class to eschew violence and allow peace to reign so that the country can organise a free and fair election.

He blamed the violence on the attempt by the PDP to win at all cost.”Their supporters have been causing problems throughout the country and it is rather unfortunate that the government at the centre seems to be supporting them using federal might to intimidate opposition.

“Our supporters should not be intimidated. They should not be deterred. They should come out and vote massively for the ACN. They should not be intimidated as that is the intention of of the PDP in all these orchestrated cases of violence,” he said.
