Poly Pensioners Cry Out To FG
The association of Nigeria Polytechnic Pensioners, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro Chapter, has appealed to the federal government to accelerate action on the implementation of the review of pension rates which was approved for the polytechnic sector since August last year.
Speaking with P.M.NEWS, Alhaji Waheed Ola Adigun, the Southwest zonal Chairman of the association, stated that the federal government on 5 August 2010 had through a circular approved a total package of 40% for retirees on the Polytechnic Sector.
According to him, the actual increase contained in their petition is 73% but in a show of appreciation of prompt positive action on their case by the federal government, the association received the circular without any complaints.
He, however, lamented that since August 2010 till now the association is still waiting in suspense without any indication as to when it shall actually receive the increase in cash.
“It is very disheartening to note that pensioners in the polytechnic sector have been deprived of humane constitutional right since 2001. Instead, we have been subjected to stagnation in the pension income since the last ten years, ” Adigun lamented.
