CPC Floors PDP In Katsina

A political tsunami has blown in Katsina state sweeping away all but two representatives of the  people of the state at the National Assembly belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party as the results of last Saturday’s National Assembly election were released Sunday night at the Headquarters of the Independent National Election Commission at the state.

Former Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Defence and Chairman Senate Committee on Defence and the Nigerian Army, Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Ida representing Katsina Central Senatorial District at the upper legislative house was roundly trounced by Alhaji Ahmed Sani Stores of the Congress for Progressive Change with total votes of 217, 154 against Senator Ida’s 188, 302 votes.

At the Katsina Federal Constituency, attempts by Hajia Maryam Umar Yar’Adua, the daughter of late former President Umaru Yar’Adua to take the seat currently being occupied by her ailing husband Hon. Badamasi Kabir Usman of the Peoples Democratic Party, who recently suffered a severe stroke got a shocker as she was roundly beaten by Mohammed Abba Tukur of the Congress for Progressive Change who scored 45, 573 votes against Maryam’s 26, 674 votes. She ran on the platform of her late father’s and husband’s political party; PDP.

People Democratic Party’s Senator Kanti Bello who is the Senate Majority Whip and representative of Katsina North senatorial District at the upper legislative chamber was also beaten by Alhaji Abdu U. Yandoma of the Congress for Democratic Change while Hon. Abdul’aziz Tijani, also of the PDP representing Funtua / Dandume Federal Constituency was defeated by Muktari Dandutse of the CPC with total votes of 83, 084 against the PDP candidate’s 26, 674 votes.

People Democratic Party’s Hon. Nasiru Sani Zango representing Zango / Baure Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives and his colleague, Hon. Danlami Garba representing Musawa / Matazu Federal Constituency both survived the political tsunami in the state as they retained their seats beating other contestants in their constituencies, including CPC’s Hadiza Bala Usman.

Other victorious candidates of the Congress for Progressive Change include Senator Abu Ibrahim for Katsina South senatorial district who floored serving Tukur Ahmed Jikamshi of the Peoples Democratic Party.Others are, Abdulaziz Labo who defeated Hon. Bature Umar Masari for the Malumfashi / Kafur federal constituency seat, Alhaji Hamza Dalhatu who defeated Hon. Bala Banye for the Rimi /Batagararwa/Charanchi federal constituency seat, Musa Salisu who floored Hon. Abdulsamad Yusuf Kankia for the Kankia/Kusada/Ingawa Federal Constituency seat.

Aminu Ashiru also defeated Hon. Haruna Jani of the PDP for the Mani / Bindawa slot, Aminu Tuklur trounced Hon. Sani Abdullahi Dabai for the Bakori/Danja slot while Gambo Musa floored Hon. NasiruMuazu Danmusa for the Safana/Batsari/Danmusa slot.At the Jibia/Kaita federal constituency, incumbent legislator, Hon. Sada Soli Jibia of the PDP was upstaged by CPC’s Umar Abdu Dankama while Hon. Nafiu Garba representing Kankara/Faskari/Sabuwa federal constituency was defeated by CPC’s Murtala Isah. Hon. Salisu Yusuf Najigiri of Mashi/ Dutsi federal constituency was ousted by Tasi’u Doguru while the incumbent representative of Daura/Dandamu/Maiadua federal constituency, Hon.Sani Saidu Fago was sent packing by CPC’s Umar Adamu Katsayan.
