PDP Losing In Kaduna

The political woes of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, across the country continued in Kaduna as the results so far released in the state indicate a clear and early lead for the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC in the House of Representatives contest.

The result of the senatorial election in the state also shows that the PDP and the CPC have shared the two slots available.

While the CPC captured the Kaduna Central Senatorial seat, the PDP won the Southern Senatorial zone, leaving the postponed Kaduna North open for any of the parties.

In the Southern Senatorial zone, the sitting Senator, Caleb Zagi of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), got 70,488, Mrs. Debora Iliya of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) 73,830 and Mrs Esther Umsan Nenadi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled 428,992 to clinch the seat.

The Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) was in early lead ahead of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the federal constituency election held in Kaduna on Saturday.

Out of the 9 Federal constituency results announced by the Resident Electoral commissioner (REC) in Kaduna Mallam Halliru Tambuwal, CPC won 6 while the remaining 3 were captured by the ruling PDP.

Kaduna state has 16 federal constituencies but the election was held only in 11, as election in the remaining 5 was earlier postponed by INEC.

Tambuwal stated that the remaining 2 out of the 11 where elections were held are still being expected from the collation centres, in Birnin Gwari and Giwa federal constituencies.

Tambuwal announced that the six constituencies won by CPC include Igabi, Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Sabon-Gari, Soba and Zaria, while PDP has Chikun/Kajuru, Kaura and Lere.
