As the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, clocks ten years of traffic management, motorists plying Mainland and Lagos Island have commended some of the responsible and upright area commanders and zonal commanders for their achievements, maturity and understanding at their various beats in human and traffic management. They said their actions have instilled discipline in motorists and improved the economy of Lagos State,
Some of the commuter drivers who spoke with P.M.NEWS said they decided to thank the LASTMA officials because of their ability to sustain peace in the past years despite the provocation by military and police personnel who own majority of the commercial vehicles plying Lagos Island and the Mainland.
Some of the LASTMA Area and Zonal Commanders commended include Oreagba Bolaji (Alfa Olowu), Olalekan Oki Bakare, Zonal head, Iponri, Gbolahan Sulaimon, Victoria Island Zonal Head, Akinpelu Ayuba, Olowu Zonal Head and Jimoh Ariyo, Ajah Zonal Head.
Speaking with P.M.NEWS about the mentioned LASTMA officials, Sola Ogundimu, a driver said: “We must thank the officials for their maturity in rebranding our lives in matters of traffic. Our initial resistance to traffic offences was because the LASTMA project was strange to us, but immediately we realised their usefulness, we discovered their operations are for the benefit of everybody.
“We would also thank the leaders that conceived the idea for their foresight,†he stated.
