The police in Lagos have arrested a suspect, Kudirat Oseni, 21, who resides on 14, Araromi Street, Oshodi, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria for allegedly stealing N1,107,000 belonging to Alhaja Fatimat Hamzat.
She was arraigned before the Ikeja Magistrate’s Court yesterday on a one-count charge of stealing, an offence punishable under the state’s Criminal Code.
The one count charge reads: “That you, Kudirat Oseni ‘F’ on 14 March, 2011 at 14, Araromi Street, Oshodi, Lagos in the Lagos State Magisterial District, did steal the sum of One Million One Hundred and Seven Thousand Naira, belonging to one Alhaja Fatimat Hamza and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap.C.17, Vol. 11, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must be relatives.
The matter has been adjourned till 11 May, 2011 for mention while the accused was ordered to be detained in police custody until he fulfils the conditions attached to his bail.
