5,000 PDP Youths Support Fashola

Over 5,000 Members of Youth Coalition, a political youth group of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, have thrown their weight behind the second term bid of Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola and for the election of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu as  presidential candidate of Action Congress of Nigeria, (ACN) in next Saturday’s election

The group made this known in a communiqué at the end of the general meeting of the organisation in Lagos recently.

The group, in the statement signed by its founder and President, Comrade Abdulahi Taiwo, Jnr., who is also the chairman of the Bariga chapter of the coalition, stated that the group decided to join the ruling party in the state after considering the massive development going on in the state.

“We are using this medium to denounce our former People’s Democratic Party, PDP, affiliation to embrace BRF  in our attempt to ensure that Lagos is unrivalled in terms of development.

“We are convinced that an additional four years in office will contribute immensely to the governor’s quest to sweep out poverty, illiteracy, infrastructure decay and insecurity, among others, from the state in the shortest possible time,” the group stated.

The group called on Lagosians to give their vote to Governor Fashola in the coming election.

Taiwo who spoke with the P.M.NEWS after the meeting said, “the primary objective of the youth group is development which the Fashola administration has been able to give the state. To prevail on the man from going for another term may draw back the progress the state is witnessing now.  It is on this point that we are jointing the party and throwing all our support behind the man.”

The group, with members in over 53 council areas in the state disclosed that it would soon embark on a tour of all nooks and crannies of the state to garner support for Governor Fashola’s re-election.

They congratulated ACN in the state for the victory in the last National Assembly election.

They also called on all youths and Nigerians in the country to cast their votes for Action Congress  of Nigeria in next Saturday’s presidential election so that the good work going on in the state could be extended to entire country.
