Soldier Kills one, injures two in Jos

An over zealous soldier deployed to Uthan Village within Jos North local government area today opened fire on a passer-by on his motorcycle after he allegedly refused to stop when asked to.

 

Eye witnesses that were around when the incident happened explained that they were on queue close to Uthan Village Police Station, when they heard gun shots.

 

One of the eye witnesses, Pallang Audu told P.M.NEWS after that the soldier must have been trailing the man on the motorbike and when he couldn’t track him down he shot him in the hand but stray bullets killed a woman in her residence and injured other two persons.

 

The Plateau State Police Commissioner, Emmanuel Dipo Ayeni, who confirmed the shooting and killing in a telephone interview said the soldier involved has been arrested by the police in the area where the incident happened.

 

He also gave hint that the soldier involved is under investigation on why he opened fire on the wounded okada man and killed a woman as well as injured two other persons.

.

However, large number of youths of Uthan Village marched through major roads to protest the killing of the woman.

 

The police are yet to issue official statement on the matter.
