The presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, Muhammadu Buhari has alleged that the results released so far in the presidential poll showed that the election was rigged in favour of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Consequenlty, Buhari urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, not to announce the final results until the alleged irregularities in the presidential poll were resolved.

Buhari spoke through his spokesman, Mr. Yinka Odumakin, who said that there had been magic figures coming from several states in the country giving Jonathan extremely high figures.

He cited the case of a particular polling unit in Port Harcour, Rivers State, in which he alleged that 168 people were accredited to vote but that 4, 000 votes were declared for Jonathan at the polling unit.

“We are studying the results. There have been magic votes coming from the states,” he said, adding that the results of the poll were flawed and should be looked into urgently before announcing the final results.

“Buhari says he will not go to court but that the party can go if it wishes. But we reject the results of the polls,” he said.

Odumakin told P.M.NEWS that in Katsina and Kaduna States for instance, the votes for Buhari were reduced by 8, 000 votes each, saying that “we will not accept that.”

He further alleged that there had been bloated figures being released in favour of Jonathan, urging INEC to desist from announcing the final results now until investigations into the alleged electoral malpractices were concluded.

“We reject doctored votes and we reject bloated results. We reject inflated votes and we reject the reduction of our votes,” he stated.
