Police Beef Up Security In Lagos

Following the post-election violence in Northern Nigeria, the police in Lagos State , South West Nigeria have beefed up security to avert spread of the crisis to the state.

This became necessary after the violence spread to several states in the north and to prevent a reprisal attacks here following OPC’s vow that it would not fold its arm and see Southerners being slaughtered by enemies of peace, progress, development and unity in the north.

Speaking with P.M.NEWS, Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Samuel Jinadu said there is no cause for alarm as the police had beefed up security, especially in volatile areas in Lagos.

Jinadu said what was happening in the North would never happen in Lagos State as the police were battle ready to curb any upheaval that might arise due to the post election violence in the north.

“It will never happen here. There will not be spillover effect. We are prepared and we have deployed our men to volatile areas in the state to keep vigil and nip in the bud any move by anyone to foment trouble.”

He added that the police had intensified its patrol across the state as well as stop and search for vehicles, while the borders were also being monitored closely to forestall any crisis.

“We are watching everywhere in Lagos State . People should go about their normal businesses as the police would ensure adequate security of lives and property,” he said.
