Thieves Burgle National Industrial Court

The police in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria have arraigned two suspected thieves before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court, for allegedly breaking into the National Industrial Court to steal properties worth thousands of naira.

The police alleged that the accused, Okorie and Cajetam Omotosho conspired to break into the court and carted away one double-decker refrigerator, small refrigerator and photocopy machine, all valued at N270,000.

The theft occurred on 5 March, 2011 at 31, Lugard Avenue, Ikoyi, Lagos State.

The police alleged further that the officials of the court on discovery of the theft, reported the matter to the police and the accused were arrested at a hide out.

During interrogation, they allegedly confessed to the crime and were arraigned on a two-count charge of burglary and stealing, offences punishable under Sections 516, 390, Cap. 21, Vol. 2 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 31, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and the presiding magistrate granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 in like sum and adjourned the matter till 27 April, 2011.
