Nigeria has been assured of a viable, peaceful new dawn, provided the media continues to sensitise the populace on the essence of peaceful co-existence and responsible governance.
The District 404B Governor, International Associations of Lions Clubs, Lion (Senator) Olusegun Bamigbetan Baju, said this while speaking with journalists at the flag-off of his two-day working visit to Region 2 of the District.
The chairperson of Region 2 Lion Dr. Christine Olufunke Adebajo a W.H.O Medical Expert and Consultant was also at the event.
Lion Baju also charged the Professor Attahiru Jega-led Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, administration to remain focused and transparent.
He commended the 1.3 million members of the Lions International Associations and their efforts all over the world to rid the society of poverty. He charged government, wealthy individuals and NGOs to partner with the Lions International by forming a common front to attack the militating against the growth of the society.
The group also donated eye glasses to pupils of Oregun Junior Secondary School, Opebi; Senior Secondary School, Opebi and some others recipients. The event, held at the Ikeja Local Government Primary Health Centre, Lagos, also featured the donation of anti-polio campaign jackets, insecticides and mosquito nets to expectant mothers.
At the Modupe Cole Home for the physically challenged, Akoka, Yaba, Lagos they were received by the Head teacher, Mrs. Folake Abiodun Durowoju and the Matron, Mrs. Mary Onabanjo. The Lagos Model Lions Club led by the President, Lion Phina Awah donated wheelchairs to the inmates.
