Hausa Community Blames Mayhem On Illiteracy

The Hausa Community in Lagos has condemned the post presidential election violence in some northern parts of the country, blaming the ugly incident on illiteracy, ignorance and poverty in the land.

Addressing a press conference in Lagos, the Seriki Hausawa of Lagos State, Mallam Aminu Idris Yaro, who described the incident as unfortunate, sad and disheartening, was of the belief that there is the need for massive campaign to educate the citizenry on the ripple effect of violence in any society.

Idris Yaro was supported at the press conference by the Seriki Fulani of Lagos State, Mallam Muhammed A Bambado, and Seriki Hausawa of Festac Town, Mallam Umaru Yinusa.

He called for youth-friendly policies that will get the youths gainfully engaged, warning that until the ugly incident is nipped in the bud, nobody will be safe in the country.

While calling on the youths to realise that love, trust and good neighbourliness are the basic ingredients of unity and peaceful co existence, the Seriki Hausawa said that no culture or religion preaches violence or destruction of souls that nobody can create.

Yaro who expressed the belief that the problem is Nigeria’s and not a sectional problem, called on the Nigerian people to suggest ways the problem could be solved to prevent a recurrence.

The monarch who said the crisis was political and not religious or tribal, called attention to the dimension the violence, advising that aggrieved individuals or group should go to the court of law to seek redress, adding that taking laws into their hands would escalate the crisis.
