Mrs AMaechi Lauds Nigerian Armed Forces
Wives of members of military and para-military men have been lauded for supporting their spouses in restoring peace and security in Rivers State.
Rivers First Lady, Dame Judith Amaechi lauded them during a meeting with wives of members of the armed forces and para-military in Government House, Port Harcourt.
She said the military and other security operatives have been so responsive and supportive in enthroning enduring and sustainable peace in the state.
Mrs. Amaechi stated that the Rivers State Government appreciates the patriotic role of the nation’ security organs and vowed to ensure that they are not forgotten in the scheme of things.
According to her, “I called you here to thank you for supporting your husbands and holding the home front very well while they go about discharging their civic responsibility of protecting lives and property of the citizenry. You are indeed partners in progress and will not be left out in the scheme of things.â€
She added that more opportunity will be provided for the wives of military and para-military officers to enable them develop their entrepreneurial potentials.
The governor’s wife who called for a minut’s silence for police officers and soldiers who lost their lives while discharging their civic responsibility, prayed for the repose of their souls.
She pledged to provide succour to their widows to enable them cater for their families.
Speaking on behalf of the wives of the Nigerian Army 82 Brigade, Mrs Uduak Etuk lauded the Rivers State Government for giving the state a facelift and added that the soldiers’ wives will support and vote for the re-election bid of the governor.
She added that Governor Amaechi has distinguished himself among his peers and deserved another term to consolidate on his achievements.
In the same vein, leaders of Navy and Air force Officers Wives Association, Mrs. Unoaruli Evelyn and Mrs Hannah Sadik said the ugly reports about insecurity in Rivers State are things of the past and expressed the officers’ wives unflinching support for Governor Amaechi.
They lauded the women oriented programme of the state government and the Empowerment Support Initiative founded by the wife of the governor.
On her part, Secretary of the Police Officers Wives Association, Dr Chime Uchendu Adeyemo called for more interaction between the First Lady and wives of members of the armed forces.
Also, the governor’s wife pledged host to wives of non-indigenes and non-indigene without borders who pledged their support for the re-election of Governor Amaechi in next Tuesday’s governorship election in Rivers State.
