Fire Razes Bakare’s House

The house of fiery preacher turned politician, Pastor Tunde Bakare was razed down by fire today with valuables worth millions of naira destroyed.

The fire started between 1.30 pm and 2.00 pm, says Mr. Yinka Odumakin, spokesperson to the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, Presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari.

Men from the Lagos State Fire Service battled to put out the fire for four hours, added Odumakin, but said no life was lost in the inferno.

Officials of the fire service and the police came to the scene on time to battle the fire at Bakare’s house located at Awuse Estate, Opebi, Ikeja, South West Nigeria.

According to Odumakin, the cause of the fire was not known and that the police were still investigating the remote and immediate cause of the fire.

Odumakin said the cause of the fire could not be attributed to politics now until the police concluded their investigation.

He said the entire house was burnt while vital documents were destroyed.

When contacted, Bakare was not in the mood to comment on the issue, saying that we should contact Odumakin and that he was too busy putting things in place.

Bakare was the Vice Presidential candidate of the CPC in the just concluded presidential election in which he and Buhari lost to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Goodluck Jonathan.

Bakare is the founder and Senior pastor, Latter Rain Assembly based in Lagos, southwest Nigeria.
