The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola (SAN) on Saturday expressed his heartfelt sympathy on the passage of one of the distinguished members of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Mr Ashley Nwosu.

In a condolence letter personally signed by the Governor and addressed to the National President of the Guild, Mr Segun Arinze, he described him as one of the leading lights of the pace setting film industry in the country that has now gained a global renown as Nollywood.

He said Mr Nwosu would be sorely missed as a cultural icon, a committed actor and worthy role model.

“The pain of losing a dear colleague, especially one whom the younger ones looked up to for mentoring as a thoroughbred professional can only be imagined,” the letter stated.

The Governor noted that while everyone will naturally feel the pain brought about by this physical separation, the accomplishments of Mr Nwosu should become at once a source of solace and inspiration to the colleagues left behind.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Lagos State, please accept my sincere condolence once again. May God grant the departed’s soul eternal rest and comfort all fellow thespians and family members left behind,” he said.
