Robbers Kill DPO In Lagos
A divisional police officer in Lagos, southwest Nigeria was killed this morning during a bloody robbery operation in Alakuko area of the state.
PMNEWS learnt that at about 5.am today, Sunday 24 April 2011, Joe Olamilekun, the DPO of Alakuko police station received a distress that some armed robbers were operating in the area.
Olamilekun was said to have mobilised his officers and raced to the scene of the crime, where the officers engaged the robbers in a bloody shootout.
However, our reporter further learnt that while the shooting was going on, a bullet from one of the robbers hit the DPO and he slumped and died after bleeding profusely.
While confirming the incident on phone to PMNEWS this morning, Samuel Jinadu, Lagos police spokesman said that though information about the death of the senior police officer was still sketchy, investigations has since commenced.
Jinadu, a deputy superintendent of police, assured that anti-robbery police officers will certainly track down the killers of Olamilekun
