ACN Leads Lagos Assembly Polls
Though the entire results for the Lagos state House of Assembly is yet to be released, P.M.NEWS can confirm that the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, is leading other parties in the just concluded election for the 40 seats in the House.
The result so far shows that the party won in Oshodi/Isolo Constituency 1and 2 respectively. In Oshodi/Isolo 1, the party polled 32,377 to return Babatunde Ayeni for a second term. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, scored 12,311 while the Labour Party polled 278.
In Oshodi/Isolo Constituency 2, Hon. Omowunmi Olatunji-Edet of the ACN won by 37, 664 against her closest rival of the PDP who polled 15,413 and the Labour Party which scored 2,513.
The Majority Leader of the House, Kolawole Taiwo, representing Ajeromi/Ifelodun 1, polled 43,909 against his closest rival and PDP candidate who scored 12,452.
In Ikeja, the two seats were won by ACN. Speaker Adeyemi Ikuforiji, who would represent Ikeja 1 in the seventh Assembly, won by 16,348, while the candidate of the PDP in the constituency scored 8,853.
Lola Akande, representing Ikeja 2, scored 26,795 votes against the candidate of the PDP who scored 10,519.
Razak Balogun, who is the Chief Whip and representing Surulere Constituency 1, polled 51,060 to emerge the winner against the candidate of the PDP who scored 12, 030.
The result from Ikorodu 2 shows that the ACN candidate won by 20,551 against the PDP candidate who scored 9,081 votes.
In his reaction this morning, the Speaker described his victory as an act of God. He said he would rededicate himself to the development of the state.
Ikuforji commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for its neutrality and transparency while thanking his party and supporters for the rigorous campaign.
