Amosun Leads Them All In Abeokuta
The broom literally had a swell time this night when hundreds of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, supporters took to the streets of Abeokuta to celebrate the victory of the governorship candidate of the party, Senator Ibikunle Amosun in Tuesday’s election in the Abeokuta metropolis.
In virtually all the polling units in the metropolis, Amosun won with huge votes. The PDP candidate, Gen. Adetunji Idowu Olurin came a distant second, closely followed by Gov. Gbenga Daniel’s protege, Alhaji Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, popularly called GNI.
Amosun’s victory started from the two polling booths located inside African Church Grammar School, Ita Iyalode, in front of the family house of former President Olusegun Obasanjo. The ACN won with huge votes in the two polling booths. In the first one where Obasanjo voted,The ACN had 174 votes to PDP’s 54. PPN had just 10 votes. In the second polling booth, the ACN had 324 votes to PDP’s 61. PPN scored 23 votes.
Also at the African Church Primary School, Ita Iyalode polling booth where Amosun voted, the ACN had an overwhelming 398 votes to Olurin’s 20. Isiaka scored just 11 votes.
At the booth located at the Akin Olugbade social centre, Abeokuta, the ACN won with 218 votes. PDP had 12 votes while PPN had 8 votes.
At the booth located in front of the mosque at Oke Sokori, the ACN won with 309 votes while PDP had 22 votes.The ACN also won at Gateway 1 polling booth with 251 votes, PDP had 23, while PPN scored 11 votes. At a polling booth located in Oke Ilewo, the ACN had 201, PDP,38, PPN 11. Itori polling booth, the ACN, 204, PDP 25, PPN,12. At Iporo Ake booth, the ACN won with 204, PDP, 57, PPN, 5. At Ebu Alaparo booth 1, the ACN had 153, PDP, 39, PPN, 20. At Ebu Alaparo booth 2, the ACN had 209, PDP,32, PPN, 19.
Also in all the polling booths monitored at Ago Oba, Olomore, Ibara, Adigbe, Kuto, Amolaso, Igbore, it was the ACN all the way. In addition to winning the governorship election in these areas, the party also swept the House of Assembly elections and the House of Reps election in some areas where elections were not held on 9 April national assembly elections.
Meanwhile, collation of results from all the polling units in the state have commenced at the state headquarters of INEC at magbon, Abeokuta.
