Easter Parasoccer Tourney: Promasidor Applauds Players

Managing Director of Promasidor Nigeria Limited, Chief Keith Richards has applauded the skills displayed by all the players who featured in the just concluded 4th Promasidor Easter Parasoccer Championship.

T.C Terrors Parasoccer Club dethroned Leads United to win the tourney, put together for the physically challenged players to showcase their God-given talent at the University of Lagos Sports Centre on Sunday.

Terrors, last year’s runners-up were too much for Leads United, who won the 2010 event. The defending champions succumbed to the fire power of Terror boys in a tension soaked final that ended 4-2.Speaking after the final, Richards said he was so impressed with the way the players played, adding that the performance of the boys showed that there is ability in disability.

“I’m impressed with the display of the players. This shows that with support, these boys can go places in life.,” he said.

Richards however described the performance of the teams as excellent, adding that his company will not relent in its effort to see that the physically challenged in the society are not neglected.

“I want to say that we’ll be here next year and even hold a bigger and better tourney,” he said.Chairman of the organiser, Total Consult, Theo Lawson, popularly called ‘The Headmaster’ thanked the fans who came for the championship to celebrate Easter with the physically challenged players.

“This is a day of joy to these players who showed to us their ability in disability. I believe next year’s edition will be better than this,” said Lawson. Baba Maigoro from Adamawa state beat Kwara State team 3-1 in the third place match.

Dignitaries that graced the final included Tayo Popoola, a member of the Lagos State Sports Council, Seyi Akinwunmi, chairman of Lagos State Football Association, Yeni Kuti, daughter of the Afro Beat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti and a host of others.
