LASPAA Denies Romance With PDP
The executive of the Lagos State Pools Agents Association, LASPAA, has denied any dealing with the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, in Lagos before the gubernatorial election.
The PDP last week published an advertorial in the newspapers that if voted into power, the party would address the problems of the operators of the 1-2-x business in Lagos by June this year.
Reacting on the publication, president of the LASPAA, Major Sammy Ogunyebo (retd.),said there was no romance between the leadership of the agents association with the PDP in Lagos prior to the governorship poll. He said though the PDP sought the support of the LASPAA before the election, the association’s position was non-partisan.
“I want to blame the officials of the Lagos State government for allowing PDP to capitalise on the problem the association is having with the government. The PDP went to town campaigning that they will work on our proposal if voted into power. This is ridiculous and very unfortunate. As a responsible association, we disociate ourselves from the publication and its contents. LASPAA did not have any agreement with anybody to mobilise our members,†said Sammy.
“I want to advise officials of Lagos State government to pleaselook into our proposal which has been on the table of the chairman of the Lagos State Board of Inland Revenue, LIRS, Mr. Babatunde Fowler. Governor Raji Fashola has given a directive to his aides to look into the proposal, I don’t see any reason civil servants will be disobeying the governor’s order.
“My members are suffering. They cannot eat three square meals because some powerful people within the promoters have vowed to use their connection to prevent our proposal from seeing the ligh of the day,” said Sammy.
