Draw for the West Africa Football Union, WAFU Cup will hold tomorrow at the Richmond Hotel, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Apart from the host, Nigeria, other countries expected to take part in the draw are Ghana, Senegal, Gambia, Togo and Benin Republic.
Defending champions, Nigeria will be seeded in Group A, while last year’s runners up, Senegal will be seeded in Group B.
Nigeria are likely to play against their archrivals, Ghana in the group when the competition begins on 5 May at the Ijebu-Ode International Stadium.
Secretary of WAFU, Aka Malan, said the organisers are ready to stage a glamorous competition, adding that the regional competition has come to stay. He, however, noted that a surprise team may win this year’s edition.
“There are no minnows in African football any more, so we are expecting shocks in this tournament. There is no doubt that the competition will be highly competitive,†he said.
