Chief Coach of Nigeria’s U-23 Eagles, Augustine Eguavoen has charged his wards to be ruthless with their Liberian counterparts, when they square up tomorrow in the first round, second leg, All Africa Games, AAG, qualifier at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin, Edo State, Nigeria.
The first leg, played a fortnight ago ended 1-1 with the Nigerian contingent decrying the treatment meted out to them by the Liberians in Monrovia. After a hide and seek game, the Liberians arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos early today and are expected to hit Benin, venue of the match immediately.
“If we do not concede (tomorrow), we will progress but that will be a dangerous mindset to have before a game as important as this.
“The boys have to be ruthless and take their chances when they get them,†Eguavoen, the former Super Eagles player and chief coach told SuperSport.com.
A clean sheet for the Nigerians will see them advance to the next round but Eguavoen wants his players to go one step further.
The All-Africa Games are a regional multi-sports event held every four years and organized by the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa.
