DSTV, Champions, Daily Independent, Complete Sports, P.M.NEWS Partner Kanu Cardiac Hospital Launch Project

Some media organisations have agreed to partner with the Kanu Heart Foundation in the area of creating awareness about the construction of a N5 billion cardiac hospital in Nigeria.

 

The media organisations are DSTV, P.M.NEWS, Champion newspaper, Complete Sports and Daily Independent.

 

Ambassador Kanu Nwankwo, (MON,OON,UNICEF) former Super Eagles Captain and charity worker through his pet project Kanu Heart Foundation desires to build a cardiac specialist hospital in Nigeria.

 

Kanu, having constituted a project committee team made up of tested and trusted individuals, started activities that will lead to the launch scheduled for July in Abuja.

 

The activities have begun with the project committee members embarking on media courtesy visits to private and public media organizations in Nigeria.

 

The Project committee led by Godwin Spiff Sagbama, the Project consultant; Pastor Onyebuchi Abia, Cordinator/Trustee, Kanu Heart Foundation; Camillus Nnaji ,Head Project Secretariat, and Obetta Remigius , committee secretary has visited and secured the partnership of the media houses.

 

During the visits, Onyebuchi Abia outlined the achievements of the Kanu Heart Foundation since its inception in 2000; which include carrying out over 450 open heart surgeries in India, Isreal and Sudan with 98.5% success rate.

 

He pointed out that Kanu himself has as a major objective, the building of the cardiac specialist hospital in Nigeria which will not only save more lives but also be cost-effective in terms of travel fares, accommodation, feeding, surgery bills all paid in foreign currencies abroad.

 

Abia requested the media houses to partner with the project even to the completion of the hospital building so that Nigerians in the grassroots will know about the proposed launch.

 

Godwin Spiff Sagbama, Project consultant, said the hospital project is a call to all and sundry and a response to social responsibility and humanitarian initiative by the founder Kanu Nwankwo.

 

He said that while 450 patients have benefited from the large Heart and generosity of Kanu, thousands are left unattended to at the waiting list due to lack of funding.

 

Spiff announced that the marketing communication materials are ready and requested the media houses among other things to designate a reporter to cover the activities of the on going capacity build up excercice towards the launch in July in Abuja.

 

In his response during the committee’s visit to Daily Independent, Akpandem James , Managing Editor of Daily Independent lauded this initative towards the building of the cardiac specialist hospital in Nigeria, which according to him would offer many cardiac patients easier access to treatment.

 

Also,Felix Awogu, General Manager of DSTV, added that Kanu is a National Hero, with a scandal free career, which further makes it easier to associate with and support his vision.

 

Simon Ibe, Chairman Editorial Board of Daily Champion newspaper, said: “you at Kanu Heart Foundation have proved that your foundation is credible, we want to work with you, we want to celebrate with you, we want to project you as sustainable and dependable as you have been.”

 

The committee continues the visit to other selected media organisations this week.
