An estate agent, Emuriashe Reuben, 33 has been arrested by the police at Oko-Oba, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria for collecting N76,000 as part payment from a tenant, Mr. Christopher Ranke, under the guise of providing him an apartment.
The suspect, who resides at 13, Odekeye Street, New Oko-Oba was alleged to have refused to repay the money, claiming that the landlord of the apartment ordered him not to collect part-payment. Every attempt by the complainant to get the initial deposit of N76,000 from the agent proved abortive as he kept on giving him flimsy excuses.
He was reported to the police at Oko-Oba when he alleged that armed robbers attacked and collected N70,000 from him and left him with N6,000.
The police said they would charge him to court if he fails to pay the money to the owner.
Speaking with P.M.NEWS, Mr. Christopher Ranke wondered how armed robbers could rob someone of N70,000 and leave N6,000 with him, including his handset.
