Professor Niyi Osundare, renowned poet and respected scholar, of the University of New Orcleans in America has just been named a Distinguished Professor of English.
“This rankâ€, according to Professor Peter A. Schock, “is the highest of the professorships awarded by the University, and is reserved for those who have established a truly distinguished national or international record in scholarship or creative workâ€.
Osundare’s books include Songs of the Marketplace, Moonsongs, The Eye of the Earth, The word is an Egg and Waiting Laughters. He has won numerous prizes for his poetry and his dogged commitment to the cause of making the world a better place.
