INEC Slates Imo Polls for 6 May to Resolve Impasse
Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has fixed 6 May to hold what it calls supplementary election to resolve the impasse over the governorship election of 26 April.

The election was declared inconclusive by the returning officer. The stalemated poll has incumbent Ikedi Ohakin running neck and neck with businessman and philanthropist, Rochas Okorocha.
According to a statement by the Secretary to the Commission, Abdullahi Kaugama, the supplementary election will hold in four Local Government Areas namely Ngor-Okpalla, Mbaitoli, Oguta and Egbema; as well as in Orji Ward in Owerri North Local Government Area.
“INEC urges all stakeholders to ensure the highest level of integrity and good conduct in the supplementary election to allow for smooth conclusion of the governorship poll,†he said.
