Calm back in Nigeria’s Northern Riot cityuna
Against the much anticipated fears that enveloped the state over alleged possible outbreak of post election violence after the announcement of governorship election result , Kaduna State has remained peaceful and calm.
Two days after Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa of the PDP was formally announced as the winner of the Kaduna governorship poll, there has been no sign of any tension in the state.
P.M.News visited Tudun-Wada, Ungwar-Rimi, Barnawa ,Sabo-Tasha and Narayi today to feel the pulse of the people, but observed that the Christians massively turned out for church services and muslims went about their normal business.
Though there were flashes of protest by some CPC supporters in the metropolitan Rigasa and Tudun-Wada areas immediately the governorship result was announced on Friday 29, in favour of the incumbent Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa, soldiers and police men on hand to keep the peace, sent the protesters back to their houses.
The security team was able to control the protesters because the curfew that was initially relaxed from 6am to 8pm before the election was rolled back by two hours from 6am to 6pm.
However, Kaduna governor elect,Yakowa has promised to put up strategy not only to curb crisis in the state, but to also provide adequate security of lives and property henceforth.
He however urged the aggrieved members of opposition parties to consider joining hands with him to provide sustainable dividends of democracy , rather than make statements capable of destabilising the relative peace in the state now.
