Ex-Nigerian governor loses senate seat

Former Kaduna state Governor and current People’s Democratic Party, PDP Senator representing Kaduna North senatorial constituency , Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi has lost his re-election bid to return to the senate.

Makarfi lost to a former House of Representatives member , Datti Baba Ahmed of Congress for Progressive Change,CPC in a tight election.

Datti who won the postponed Kaduna North senatorial election polled 366,398 votes, while Makarfi got 365,048 votes.

The returning officer,Fidelis Tise , who announced the results officially yesterday returned Datti as the winner of the Kaduna North senatorial constituency.

By this result , CPC has won two senatorial seats in the state. It won Kaduna Central and Kaduna North. PDP was able to capture only the Kaduna South senatorial seat .
