Police Display Corpses Of 3 Robbers
The Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, of the Lagos Police Command on Monday displayed corpse of three armed robbers killed in Iba Estate near Iyana Iba, Ojo Local Government area of Lagos State, South-West, Nigeria.
P.M.NEWS checks revealed that the three robbers had snatched a car, End of Discussion Honda 2006 model from its owner at Oduduwa Crescent, GRA, Ikeja on Sunday.
The car owner immediately reported the robbery incident at Oduduwa, GRA, Ikeja office where the officer in charge of SARS, SP Abba Kyari mobilised his team and immediately swung into action.
According to police sources, the tracking system in the car revealed its location at Mile 2 on Badagry Expressway and later Iyana-Iba. The device later revealed it was at Iba Estate.
The SARS boss and his team then laid ambush for the car and the gang from Sunday till Monday evening. At about 5 p.m., the car was about zooming off when the robbers were confronted by policemen. During the exchange of gunfire, the three robbers were killed.
The car was recovered from the robbers and two locally-made double barrel pistols, 11 live catridges and three expended catridges.
Investigation into the incident continues.
Meanwhile, the leader of a robbery gang simply identified as Charles has been arrested by the police.
He was arrested recently when his gang was allegedly sharing their loot inside a Toyota Avalon car at Tin Can Island, Apapa, Lagos.
Policemen from Mopol 22 Squad were said to have swooped on the bandits and Charles was arrested.
Weeks ago, a suspect named Mariam was earlier nabbed by the police at Mile 2 with three rifles in a bag on her way to Koko, Delta State.
She reportedly confessed to the police that the rifles were meant for her boyfriend called Charles. Following the alleged confession of Mariam, the police were able to trace her boyfriend, Charles.
Commenting on the recent success at crime fighting by the police, the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Samuel Jinadu advised criminals to desist from crime, saying that they will be caught in the short run and made to face the consequences of their actions.
