The Labour Party, LP, in Abia State says it is considering the next action about the governorship and state House of Assembly elections.

The party described the elections as a sham.

Mr. Obi Aguocha, a chieftain of the party, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Umuahia that “we are seeking legal advice, we are still collating materials for evidence.

“It is not just going to court or tribunal, you need to have concrete evidence to present to the panel of judges that will handle the matter,” he said.

Aguocha said the party was not in a hurry to challenge the matter.

“We have 21 days window and we are still within the window allowed by the Electoral Act,” he said.

He said INEC had declared the results of the election conducted in the state, but that “God and the tribunals” had not endorsed the declaration.

Aguocha said: “I am sure that the courts will take a look at the disparities alleged in the election.

“I believe that most of the excesses of the winners as far as I am concerned will be upturned in the court.

“Most of us are waiting to see it happen. I think the court will have the ultimate say as to who won the elections.”

On 2015, Aguocha said that the next election could hold if the mistakes of 2011 were not contested and given judicial interpretations.

“The only way we can proceed is to seek judicial interpretation, whether the procedures adopted by INEC are proper,” he said.

Aguocha described the CPC candidate’s step to challenge the presidential election as the right step.
