Landlord Fights Pastor Over Fire Prayers
A landlord, Hassan Itoro of 19, Alhaji Monsuru Street, Ijegun Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria has been dragged to an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court, Lagos court for attacking members of Christ Victory Church during a service.
The accused claimed that whenever the church was conducting a service and asking the Holy Ghost to take charge, he was always restless and disturbed and therefore wanted members of the church to either change their mode of praying or relocate somewhere else.
He was alleged to have hired thugs to attack members during a service and in the process, many of the worshippers sustained injuries. The presiding minister, Pastor Iyke Udogu expressed shock over the attack on his members, saying some of them were injured with broken bottles.
He reported the attack to the police and sought an injunction from the court restraining Hassan and his agents from further threatening and attacking members of his church.
When contacted, Hassan confirmed that some people attacked members of the church but denied involvement in the attack. He also condemned the manner of praying in the church. When told that the church was not the only one in the area, he said it was the only one praying the unsettling prayers.
