NIBF Holds Africa’s Biggest Book Fair

Nigeria International Book Fair (NIBF) has concluded plans to hold the biggest fair in Africa and investors from across the world are expected to participate at the 10th edition of the event, the Acting Executive Secretary of the association, Mr. Abiodun Omotubi, has said.

The annual international book fair is designed to bring books closer to Nigerians, especially students for better education and self improvement.

In a chat with Campus Square, Omotubi said the fair will further create a platform for all stakeholders in the book and publishing industry locally and internationally, for better networking.

The highly packaged and educative programme, which holds between 9 and 14 May, 2011 at the Multi-Purpose Hall, University of Lagos, will parade exhibitors from America, Europe, Asia, African countries and across Nigeria and for the first time, exhibitors from Notherlands.

The theme of the conference, one of the NIBF’s programme, is Technology and the Future of the Book: Implication for the African Book Industry and schedule to hold on 10 May, 2011 at Afe Babalola Auditorium, University of Lagos.

According to Omotubi, “we are looking at the place of technology in Africa countries and we discovered that there are many things we’re lacking, mostly when we relate it with technology. That is why we’re inviting erudite scholars who will look into the topic intellectually.”

The organisation therefore called on policy makers in the education sector, particularly parents, teachers and publishers to bring their wards and products for the highly rated book fair in Africa, promising that problems encountered during the last year’s edition will not repeat itself.
