4 Die In Auto Crash

At least four persons were crushed to death this morning at Agric Bus Stop in Ikorodu Area of Lagos State, South West Nigeria,by a speeding truck whose brake failed, police sources said.

Eye witnesses, however, said that over 10 persons lost their lives in the ghastly accident that involved an 18-seatter commuter bus and a truck belonging to Oronsito Nigeria Limited.

The fatal accident occurred at about 7 O’clock this morning, police sources at Owutu Police Station, who did not want to be identified said.

It was learnt that when the brake of the truck failed, it rammed into a commuter bus fully loaded, two commercial motorcyclists carrying two persons each and some people standing by the bus stop.

The impact was so severe that the commuter bus went crashing into the gutter metres away from the road.

Eye witnesses said that many people were injured while the dead were taken to the mortuary in a danfo bus.

“Over 10 people died here,” a commercial motorcyclist who claimed he witnessed the incident said.

“The dead filled a danfo bus. And those who were injured were even more,” he said.
