Driver Held Over Pedestrian’s Death

The police in Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, have arrested a motorist, Mr. Habeeb Baba, for driving a Mitsubishi car with registration number HF2777EKY recklessly and killing Mohammed Kazeem along Adeola Odeku Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Police source informed P.M.NEWS that the deceased was walking along the street when the accident happened and he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he later died.

In another development, officers attached to Maroko Police Station have arrested Nkwantabisa Surpong, the driver of a tipper truck with registration number YQ67BDG for killing a motorcyclist, identified as Dingari Haruna, along Jazz 38 Road, Maroko.

The deceased died on the spot before help could come his way. Traffic policemen from Maroko Police Station removed the corpse to public mortuary for autopsy.

Similarly, a yet-to-be identified motorcyclist was said to have killed a 61-year old pedestrian, Oriaye Lateef, at Ejalonibu Junction along Ebute Ero Market Road with a motorcycle registered as QV515 GGE. He, however, escaped immediately after the accident.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Samuel Jinadu, urged motorists to always drive within approved speed limits to avoid accidents.
