Fela’s Daughter, Yeni Turns 50, Plans Superlative Bash

Yeni Anikulapo-Kuti, the daughter of the late Afrobeat king, Olufela Anikulapo-Kuti, will be 50 on 24 May, 2011.

P.M.Entertainment gathered that YK Power, as she is popularly called, is very excited about turning 50 and to this end, she and her friends as well as her staff members are currently planning to make the occasion a memorable one.

P.M.Entertainment also gathered that invitation has been sent to her friends in and outside the entertainment industry to be part of the celebration.

A source close to Yeni told P.M. Entertainment that she is currently on a spending spree to make herself and those that will attend the bash comfortable. She is said to be buying assorted drinks including different brands of wine, champagne and others.

Apart from friends, family members and well wishers are said to be buying a local fabric which they will wear on that day.

Speaking with P.M.Entertainment in an interview which will be published soon,Yeni said: “I don’t know that this is how it feels to be 50, because in the past, I looked at my parents when they said they were 50 as old, now, I am 50 and I am very excited about it.”

She said that she has no regrets at 50 except for the loss of her father, Sola and mom, adding, “I have since put that behind me.”

On whether she will remarry or not, Yeni said: “I am in a relationship already, getting married or not is a personal decision. Just come to the Shrine on that day and see how the place will be transformed.”
