‘Fashola Must Avoid Distraction’

The Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State on Christian Religious Matters, Rev. Funmilayo Akitoye-Braimoh has advised Governor Babatunde Fashola to shun all forms of distraction in order to succeed in his second term.

Akitoye spoke at an event to celebrate the victory of Fashola at the April polls. The event was organised by the Patriotic Christian Leaders Forum, a forum where she is the president.

“I will advise the governor not to look back and he should ward off distracting comments and move on,” she said.

According to her, the essence of the celebration was to show appreciation to God over the peaceful conduct of the polls,” adding that “when the election was on, we gathered as Christians and handed over the governor and the ACN candidates to God and He gave us a resounding victory.

“We expect the governor to do better and we encourage him to do better.” She said she was optimistic that the governor would do more for the Christian community in the state as he had been doing.

On the aspersion cast on the President of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, by Major General Muhammed Buhari, she said Buhari’s utterance was unguarded, especially “when the Bible says touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm.”

“One would have expected Buhari to keep quiet instead of casting aspersions at the man of God,” she stated.
