Jonathan Congratulates Okorocha

President Goodluck Jonathan has congratulated Chief Rochas Okorocha for winning the Imo State governorship election.

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ima Niboro, Jonathan said that the people of Imo State had spoken through the ballot box.

The President urged him to prepare to forge ahead in the task of further developing the state.

Assuring the governor-elect of the Federal Government’s cooperation, the President urged him to build on the achievements of the outgoing administration.

Jonathan also congratulated INEC for successfully concluding the Imo State elections.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that Okorocha of APGA won the election with 336,859 votes while the incumbent governor, Ikedi Ohakim, of PDP got 290,496 votes.

In another development, Jonathan also assured Nigerians that he will put national interest above all, and provide transparent leadership to Nigerians throughout his tenure.

He gave the assurance when a delegation of the government and people of Kebbi State paid him a congratulatory visit at the State House.

“We assure you that we will provide good governance and transparent leadership throughout our tenure by putting national interest above everything else,” he said.

The President said the successful conduct of the general elections, resulting in the flood of accolades from the international community had paved the way for greater achievements.
