Accused Persons Get Bail in Nigeria's N4.5b Pension Scam

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Monday granted bail to Dr. Sani Teidi Shuaibu, a former Director of Pension Administration, Mrs. Phina Ukamaka Chidi, a former Deputy Director of Finance and Accounts, both in the office of the Head of Service of the Federation and other s standing trial over a N4.56 billion pension scam.

 

Thye were granted bail in the sum of N10 million each with one surety each who must be property owners within the jurisdiction of the court.

 

The value of the property must not be less than N10 million. They are also to report to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Headquarters in Abuja every Monday pending the conclusion of investigations on some outstanding aspects of the fraud.

 

Justice Adamu Bello, the presiding judge, also ordered that the travel documents belonging to the accused persons which were confiscated by the anti-graft agency should be returned to the court and directed the accused persons not to travel outside the court’s jurisdiction without the approval of the court.

Title documents of properties of would-be sureties were also to be verified by the court’s registrar.

 

He also ordered that the accused persons be remanded in Kuje prisons pending the fulfilment of their bail conditions.
