Zenith Bank Boosts NBBF Ahead Women’s League
A cheque of N15million has been presented by the management of Zenith Bank Plc to the Nigeria Basketball Federation ahead of the NBBF/Zenith Bank Women Basketball League.
The Bank’s Head of Philanthropy, Eunice Sampson, commended the NBBF for its ruggedness and dedication towards sustaining the relationship for seven years as well as the league, stressing that the cooperation has transformed the women basketball players to better professionals.
Sampson, said the bank was passionate about the growth of female basketball and that the sponsorship of the women’s basketball league was part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility to empower basketball players through sports.
According to her, the need to engage the youth in positive endeavours had encouraged the bank to partner the NBBF for years.
The NBBF Vice President, Muktar Kalim, said the NBBF/Zenith Women Basketball League would be played in three phases, with first dunking off next Thursday in Abuja. Akure, Ondo State will host the second stage in July because of the quality basketball facilities in the state, while Lagos State will host the final phase in August.
According to him, a million naira will be at stake for the eventual winners, while N500,000 goes to the second best team and N300,000 awaits the team that comes third.
