Laloko, Ayinla Tip Eagles For Trophy

Former Green Eagles player, Toyin Ayinla and former Technical Director of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Chief Kashimawo Laloko have tipped Nigeria’s Super Eagles to lift the 2011 WAFU Nations Cup.

The Eagles are the first to earn a place in the semi final of the tournament after defeating Liberia and Niger Republic to top Group A table with six points.

Ayinla, who was a member of the Eagles that played the Africa Cup of Nations held in Algeria in 1990, told P.M. Sports in Abeokuta that none of the countries in Ogun state can stop Nigeria from retaining the title.

He noted that after watching others teams and their style of play, he believes the Eagles have the players to win the cup.

“The Eagles are the only team that play good football in this tourney. Ghana were not too impressive when they met Togo. The Black Stars were just lucky to have won that game,”said Ayinla, who is an assistant coach of Gateway Football Club of Abeokuta.

Laloko, the Director of Pepsi Football Academy, said: “We have seen what all the countries can offer, but I still believe that the Nigerian team are the best and will win the title again.”

Meanwhile, Togo will clash with Ghana today in a Group B classification match.
