Pastor Steals Church Property, Starts Own Ministry

Pastor Kola Olayiwola has been arraigned before Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing church’s properties to set up his own ministry.

The 39-year old Olayiwola was alleged to have sneaked into the auditorium of Open Door Assembly Church, located at Oke-Afa, Ejigbo, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria and carted away church properties worth thousands of naira.

He was previously pastor of the church before he decided to leave the church to start his own.

The properties he was alleged to have stolen include two loud speakers and its accessories the church uses for preaching during service, amplifier, microphones, and standing fans among others.

Olayiwola insisted that he had paid his dues and wanted to be on his own and he only collected the items and told the general overseer that he was going with those items.

P.M.NEWS gathered that Pastor Olayiwola was a serving pastor in the church before he decided to establish his own ministry.

He had no money to purchase his own musical as well as other equipment that was why he decided to steal those items.

He was arrested and arraigned before the presiding magistrate, Mrs. S. O. Solebo where he told the court during the trial that he actually took away the items but did not steal them as claimed by the complainant.

The pastor of the church, Rev. Eboh Meliorate told the court that Olayiwola stole those items to open his own ministry, saying that it was where he hid the items that the police retrieved them.

The matter has been adjourned till 15 May, 2011 for continuation of trial.
