Bauchi Governor Sacks All Aides

Re-elected governor of Nigeria’s Bauchi state, Isa Yuguda has sacked all his commissioners and political aides with immediate effect.

TheNews agency of Nigeria reported that the governor gave the order today.

Yuguda, who has been criticized for making a political gaffe over the killing of 11 corps members by rioters in his state, blamed sycophants in his government for the perceived under-achievement of his government and vowed to do away with them, to signal a new beginning in the state.

He was re-elected in the rescheduled polls on 28 April, in a landslide, over his rival in the Congress for Progressive Change.

His victory was a big surprise as previous polls had favoured the CPC candidate as the likely victor.
