Gang War Resumes At Fadeyi
The crisis in Mushin area of Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, came alive yesterday evening when youths in Fadeyi started shooting sporadically forcing many business people in the area to close shop.
The shootings which began suddenly while residents of the state were returning from offices and other areas, forced those around the area scampering to safety.
P.M.NEWS learnt that this action from the youths is not unconnected with the crisis that has engulfed the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, in the state.
Eye witnesses who spoke with P.M.NEWS correspondents said the youths took to the streets armed with dangerous weapons.
The youths who are said to be loyal to a particular faction of the union were said to have thereafter headed for Oshodi area of Lagos after holding Fadeyi hostage for several minutes.
“Many of the passersby got trapped while many others took to their heels,†an eye witness said.
There had been bloody gang wars between hooligans in the area. People were shot and vehicles vandalised while they lasted. The gang wars abated a few months ago only to resume yesterday.
