Ghana Dread Super Eagles
Chief Coach of Ghana’s Black Stars, David Duncan has warned his wards to expect a tough duel when they confront Nigeria’s Super Eagles in the semi final of the ongoing “Ogun 2011 WAFU Nations Cup in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Southwest, Nigeria, tomorrow.
Duncan, whose team fell to Togo 3-4 in their last group game decided through penalty shootout yesterday to set up a semi final clash with Nigeria, told P.M.Sports that “Our match against the Nigerian team tomorrow will be tough. The Eagles will be diffcult for us. This is a big match that may seal or knock us out of the final.â€
He, however, believes that if his players play to instructions, they may spring some surprises against the Nigerians.
Continuing Duncan said “We are battle ready for the Nigerian team. We’ll be out to give them a good run for their money. But my players have to be cautious and approach the game with all seriousness,â€.
Nigeria’s coach, Samson Siasia, is unfazed about the prospect of the encounter, he said: “Our objective is to get to the final. It doesn’t matter the opponents we are playing. We are playing a match that we all want to win. What is important is if we play the way we want to play and do the right things on the field, we’ll get the desired results.”
Both countries share an intense rivalry dating back to decades, and the Black Stars have been seen as the biggest threat to Eagles’ title-winning ambition.
But Siasia is refusing to focus on the opposition. Meanwhile, Togo meet Liberia in the first semifinal tomorrow at 2pm, while Nigeria and Ghana go head to head at 4pm. Nigeria are defending champions.
